Asian markets were trading lower. China's Shanghai Composite was down 0.44% or 10.59 points at 2,413.71.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 0.19% or 37.99 points at 20,293.61.

Japan's Nikkei shed 1.66% or 160.49 points at 9,525.04.

Singapore's Straits Times was flat at 2,944.97.

South Korea's Seoul Composite fell 0.71% or 12.36 points at 1,738.93.

Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted was down 0.44% or 34.10 points at 7,670.42.
