Equity indices extended gains from the previous session on Wednesday, as sentiments turned bullish after the US Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan maintained benchmark rates near zero. However, the broader markets pared most of intraday gains and ended on a subdued note.

Indices opened with a gap-up and breached important resistance levels as the session progressed. Experts are of the view that though the medium and long term looks bullish, the market may see profit booking in the near term.

On the lower side, 5201-5155 are the strong support levels. Medium- to long-term investors should hold on to their positions while short-term traders are advised caution as market may see some correction
