Indian markets ended five-day old losing streak Wednesday by surging above psychological resistance levels on the back of renewed interests from foreign institutional investors and short-coverings.

The market has been discounting euro-zone debt worries, crisis in Japan, inflation and tension in the middle-east. Valuations are fair and no positive surprises are expected this quarter. Its pure liquidity which is driving the market to higher levels. If the inflows continue unabated then we might as well see 6300 in next two months
National Stock Exchange's Nifty ended at 5911.50, up 125.80 points or 2.17 per cent. The broader index touched a high of 5923.60 and low of 5735.55 in today's trade.

Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex closed at 19696.86, up 434.32 points or 2.25 per cent. The 30-share index hit a high of 19737.33 and low of 19101.63 intraday.

BSE Midcap Index was up 1.40 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index was gained 1.30 per cent.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Capital Goods Index was up 2.73 per cent, BSE Auto Index gained 2.54 per cent and BSE Bankex advanced 2.32 per cent.

Nifty gainers were Hero Honda (7.37%), Jaiprakash Associates (7.36%), Siemens (5.44%), HDFC (4.50%), and IDFC (3.85%).

Hero Honda Motors has declared an interim dividend @ 3500% i.e. Rs 70/- per equity share of Rs 2/- each.

Sun Pharma (-0.88%), Cairn India (0.72%), Tata Power (-0.61%) and Sterlite Industries (-0.29%) were the only losers.

Market breadth was positive on the NSE with 2004 advances against 989 declines.
