Indian markets drifted lower and ended near day's lows as investors booked profit across the board following a slow-down in India's industrial production and weak cues from global peers. All the sectoral indices, except FMCG, were in the red with realty, auto and oil&gas space leading the decline.

India's industrial production for month of February slipped to 3.6 per cent from a year earlier. The growth fell by 0.1 per cent as compared to the month of January.

Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex ended at 19250.58, down 200.87 points or 1.03 per cent. The 30-share index hit a high of 19426.30 and low of 19244.36 intraday.

National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed at 5780.30, down 61.70 points or 1.06 per cent. The broader index touched a high of 5830.30 and low of 5779.55 in today's trade.

BSE Midcap Index was down 0.72 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index declined 0.77 per cent.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Realty Index was down 2.45 per cent, BSE Auto Index fell 2.23 per cent and BSE Oil&gas Index declined 1.63 per cent. BSE FMCG Index was up 0.01 per cent.

DLF (-3.60%), Jindal Steel (-3.28%), Jaiprakash Associates (-3.17%) Tata Motors (-3.03%) and HDFC (-2.98%) were the top Nifty losers.

Reliance Infrastructure (0.66%), Cipla (0.49%), ITC (0.41%), Tata Power (0.30%) and NTPC (0.19%) were the top gainers.

Market breadth was negative on the BSE with 1686 declines against 1070 advances.
