Indian markets ended near day's highs as investors bought stocks across the board at lower levels. Realty, banks and metals were amongst the top performing sectoral indices.

Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex ended at 18206, up 218.86 points or 1.18 per cent. The 30-share index touched a high of 18216.85 and low of 17950.17 intraday.

National Stock Exchange's Nifty was at 5483.35, up 69.50 points or 1.28 per cent. The broader index touched a low of 5401.95 and high of 5484.95 in today's trade.

BSE Midcap Index was up 0.92 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.59 per cent higher.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Realty Index was up 1.96 per cent, BSE Bankex advanced 1.82 per cent and BSE Healthcare Index gained 1.57 per cent.

Cipla (4.59%), ICICI Bank (3.65%), Jaiprakash Associates (3.54%), DLF (3.11%) and Hindalco (2.68%) were the top Sensex gainers.

M&M (-1.10%), Jindal Steel (-0.61%), TCS (-0.60%) and Bajaj Auto (-0.13%) were the only losers.

Market breadth was positive on the BSE with 1631 advances against 1211 declines.
