Indian equities ended with huge gains Wednesday as FIIs returned back as buyers across the board after US Federal Reserve hinted of fresh stimuli to boost the economy.
Indices opened on a firm note and gained momentum as the session progressed. Later positive opening of European markets pushed the indices above psychological resistance levels. This also forced traders to cover their shorts which propelled the indices further.
Today’s sharp rally was aided by FIIs flows and also due to short-coverings. One should trade market with lot of caution. The way it has moved up it can snap anytime. Play for short-term but play with clear cut stop-loss and play in momentum stocks.

NEW LISTING: VA Tech Wabag Water treatment firm today made an impressive debut on the bourses, ending 30 per cent higher than its issue price of Rs 1,310 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Shares of the Chennai-based company finished the session with a smart rally of 30.48 per cent at Rs 1,709.40 on the BSE . The new entrant skyrocketed 37.9 per cent to touch an intra-day high of Rs 1,806.60.

National Stock Exchange’s Nifty ended at 6233.90, up 143 points or 2.35 per cent. The broader index hit a high of 6240.25 and low of 6089.75.

Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex closed at 20687.88, up 484.54 points or 2.40 per cent. The index touched a high of 20703.97 and low of 20211.66.

BSE Midcap Index was up 0.99 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 1.06 per cent higher.

Amongst sectoral indices, BSE IT Index was up 3.15 per cent, BSE Capital Goods Index gained 2.68 per cent and BSE Realty Index moved 2.51 per cent higher.

HDFC (4.60%), TCS (4.56%), Wipro (4.48%), L&T (4.04%) and Jaiprakash Associates (4.01%) were the top Sensex gainers.

NTPC (-1.26%) Hero Honda (-0.02%) were the only losers.

Market breadth was positive on the BSE with 1928 advances against 1066 declines.
European markets also moved higher and the upmove is likely to continue on the Wall Street. At 5 pm IST , Dow Jones futures was up 0.56 per cent, S&P 500 moved 0.62 per cent higher and Nasdaq gained 0.69 per cent.
